Points of Connection…

Each of the past four years, we've put on an event in order to connect with our community on the one night of the year that sees the majority of kids out trick-or-treating. We didn't wanna miss that opportunity.

Well, I'm not much of a fan of Halloween personally, I recognize that kids love to dress up and get free candy. There have been years that the church provided an alternative "harvest party", but that just seemed to serve our own church kids. Trunk and treat provide provides a non-scary, family, friendly, safe environment for families in our community to trick-or-treat in a fun and a efficient manner.

We start early, at 5 PM, to enable the toddlers and youngest crowd to beat the crowd and come while they're still daylight. We provide heaters and places to sit and warm up alongside the hot and hot chocolate provided by Hope Mission's food truck.

This year, we are aiming to have a site for people to sign up for a raffle. Will aim to use their contact info to let them know about our next event events coming up towards Christmas. It is my hope that these connections will lead some to reengage with us for future events. Each time we're able to connect with a family there's a chance for God's spirit to do something in their lives. We build trust and make room for further contact in the future. Salt and light.

The consistency with which we've been able to offer this event has led to our community anticipating it. This is year five. We've grown from 200 or so in the first year, to having 1100 kids come through last year! We need help again this year with Prayer for the event, Candy donations, Register to Decorate a trunk and give out candy HERE, volunteer to help on October 31.

It is my prayer that God continues to show us favour and uses this event to plant seeds of trust that will grow into a major harvest of future opportunities to further share about the love of Jesus. A high-quality family event is the way we let our community see our love for them. God's love in us, shines through.

Give some prayerful consideration to how you will get involved this year!

In Christ,
Pastor Nathan
